The House Sparrow, Tree Sparrow, Song Thrush and Spotted Flycatcher are all nationally important biodiversity action plan species due to their declining numbers. By contributing to this survey you will help us to have a picture of the distribution of these birds within the borough. In the future, guidelines will be produced for residents who wish to help conserve these birds in the borough and contribute to the local biodiversity action plan.

These bird species have declined due to the reduction of available habitats of hedges and bushes. Also with the use of pesticides such as slug killer there has been a reduction in invertebrates causing less food sources for some bird species. Within the grid provided over a 3 week period from 19 June to 8 July, record sightings of any of these 4 birds.
